Arthropods

Arthropod

The name arthropod comes from the greek words “arthro” (meaning joint) and “podos” (meaning foot). Arthropods include insects, spiders and crustaceans and they all have exoskeletons on the outside instead of bones on the inside.

Because their exoskeletons make it hard for them to grow bigger, arthropods periodically shed their outer layer by moulting.

Arthropods are very versatile, living in almost every biome and form the biggest animal family on the planet with over a million different species!
