Chewonki, 100 Years of Learning Outdoors

Months in the making and starring a cast of thousands, Chewonki, 100 Years of Learning Outdoors is a wonderful collection of memories and moments from the past century at Chewonki. This film was created thanks to the volunteer effort of Gilbert B. Hammer, and captures a small piece of the spirit and joy so many have experienced here at Chewonki.

About Gilbert B. Hammer

Gilbert was a Chewonki camper from 1970 to 1973. Memorable trips during the time he was a camper included the Appalachian trail ten day hike and canoeing the St. Croix River. During the Centennial, Gilbert reconnected with Dan Hudson, his former favorite counselor.

An avid photographer, Gilbert turned his hobby into a profession, which also included broadcast and corporate video for companies such as: Morgan Stanley, Yahoo! and IBM. Currently, Gilbert works as a Director at Digital Innovation Events & Meetings, KPMG LLP.

When not in the office, Gilbert spends his time mountain biking, riding horses, hiking and rowing. In addition, he is also studying for his commercial drone license and recently completed ground school for a private pilot’s license. Gilbert lives in New Jersey with his wife Sharon and their horse, Teddy.
