Biscuits and Gravy

Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ cup chilled butter, diced
  • 1 cup cold milk

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 450℉.
  • Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Cut in the cold butter with a knife or pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk a little at a time, stirring lightly between additions.
  • Drop the batter by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet, and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the tops are golden.

Sausage Gravy

Ingredients

  • ½ pound breakfast sausage
  • 2 ½ tablespoon flour
  • 1 ½ – 2 cups milk

Directions

  • Crumble the sausage in a skillet and brown over medium-high heat.
  • Add flour and cook briefly.
  • Add 1 ½ cups of milk and cook stirring frequently until thickened, adding more milk if it becomes too thick.
  • Season with salt and pepper if necessary.
  • Serve with warm biscuits.
