Biscuits
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ½ cup chilled butter, diced
- 1 cup cold milk
Directions
- Preheat oven to 450℉.
- Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Cut in the cold butter with a knife or pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk a little at a time, stirring lightly between additions.
- Drop the batter by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet, and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the tops are golden.
Sausage Gravy
Ingredients
- ½ pound breakfast sausage
- 2 ½ tablespoon flour
- 1 ½ – 2 cups milk
Directions
- Crumble the sausage in a skillet and brown over medium-high heat.
- Add flour and cook briefly.
- Add 1 ½ cups of milk and cook stirring frequently until thickened, adding more milk if it becomes too thick.
- Season with salt and pepper if necessary.
- Serve with warm biscuits.
