To enter, submit your entry by Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Sheep Pelt winners will be announced the first day of spring, Thursday March, 20 2025, thru Tuesday, March 25. The 2025 Chewonki Community Map will go online by the end of March.

What's the Chewonki Community Map?

The Chewonki Community Map puts a unique spin on the traditional class notes format. Unlike typical alumni updates, our map highlights news from the entire Chewonki community—including alumni, recent and returning participants, parents, and former staff. Instead of appearing in a printed magazine, updates are published on an interactive online map, where each entry is “pinned” to a meaningful location.

What’s the Sheep Pelt Giveaway?

Each year, Salt Marsh Farm gifts a handful of beautifully tanned Chewonki sheep pelts to the alumni office to share with our community. Redistributing them to you is our way of saying thank you for your ongoing connection and support. This year, we have six warm, fuzzy pelts to give away.

Do I have to do both?

Nope! You can enter just the sheep pelt giveaway or submit only a community map update—it’s up to you. But if you do both, we’ll double your chances of winning by entering your name twice in the giveaway.

How are map entries displayed?

All entries are semi-anonymized—only your first name and last initial will be shown. Additionally, we won’t pin notes or photos to private residential addresses. If you tag your update to your home address (e.g., in Boston), we’ll place the pin in a general location like the city center.

How do I enter?

Simply submit your entry by Sunday, March 9, 2025. Winners will be announced between March 10-16, 2025.

Who can enter?

  • Current Maine Coast Semester students and their parents/guardians
  • Past participants from all Chewonki programs (Camp Chewonki, Maine Coast Semester, Maine Reach, Outdoor Classroom, etc.) and their parents/guardians
  • Outdoor Classroom chaperones
  • Past Chewonki staff members, including seasonal staff who are not current employees
  • Chewonki donors and board members

We can’t wait to share a little warmth with our community in the form of community updates and warm fuzzy sheep pelts. Good luck!
