Ring in the New Match Results
A Message from Chewonki President, Nancy Kennedy
Dear friends,
As we welcomed the new year, I found myself returning again and again to one word: gratitude.
Thanks to the generosity of our community, Chewonki’s Ring in the New Match campaign closed with remarkable results that rang far beyond what we could have imagined when we set out last fall.
Between November 1 and December 31, 538 individuals made a gift to Chewonki, surpassing our 500-gift goal and reaching 107% participation. Because of that collective effort, we unlocked a $100,000 challenge grant, a powerful testament to what happens when many people step forward together.
Those gifts totaled $332,760 in direct donations, including 85 leadership gifts of $1,000 or more. These leadership commitments allowed us to unlock the entire $200,000 trustee matching pool, created to inspire participation and amplify impact.
This outpouring of support ensures that our programs, staff, campus, and financial aid remain strong—and Chewonki experiences are available each year to young people and educators seeking connection, purpose, and meaningful learning.
Since September 1, our community has contributed $632,760 to Chewonki’s Annual Fund, putting us well on our way toward our $1.1 million fundraising goal for this fiscal year.
What moves me most is not just the total raised, but how it was raised. Hundreds of individuals, including alumni, families, trustees, staff, and friends, chose to say yes. Yes to community. Yes to hands-on learning. Yes to a place where young people learn to live together, care for one another, and engage deeply with the world around them.
To everyone who gave, encouraged a friend, or believed in this effort: thank you. Your support strengthens Chewonki today and ensures that its impact will continue for generations to come.
