In this episode, Chewonki trip leader and outdoor programs coordinator Wyeth Tobey describes how he helps students find confidence, resilience, and a deeper sense of self through challenge and discovery in Maine’s wild places.
Wyeth first came to Chewonki as a camper, building his own wooden sea kayak and paddling it for weeks along the coast. Now, he leads the next generation of outdoor stewards in whitewater canoeing, sea kayaking, and backpacking, guiding them to do hard things, deepen their appreciation for the natural world, and learn what they’re capable of along the way.
