The last campers have come and gone, marking the end of another amazing Chewonki summer. This year, we welcomed 258 campers. From second graders to high schoolers, campers came from as close as Woolwich and Wiscasset and as far as Beijing and Paris!
We also awarded our traditional five-year shirts to 27 campers and eight staffers. Together, they experienced a whopping 175 years of magical summers on Chewonki neck!
From Puffins who can’t get enough of Gaga ball and Emerald Cave visits with Doc Fred to teens who adore overnight campouts and making booths for Chewonki Carnival, summer was full of discovery, friendship, and growing confidence.
While none of us will soon forget our World Cup festivities and robust splash competitions, summer 2026 will hold special memories for Camp Director Ben King.
“Welcoming campers and staff and witnessing them jump right back into this community solidified my belief that Chewonki is a home away from home to them,” said Ben. “It fills me with such joy knowing I will welcome back these familiar faces and be alongside them as they grow up, summer after summer.”
Let the countdown to Camp 2027 begin!
