What a great week in the kitchen! Monday, Tuesday and Thursday the kitchen crew invited a few members of Chewonki’s staff into our workspace to prepare a lunch for the community. We try to give our Guest Chefs the full experience, from designing the menu, preparing the food (with the kitchen staff) and enjoying the meal with their co-workers. This was our third year of Guest Chef Week and it’s a great way for us in the kitchen to get others involved in what we do on a daily basis.
Monday was a Polish lunch with Andy Bezon (Outdoor Classroom and Wilderness Trips). Gołąbki, potatoes, cucumber salad and poppy seed roll.
Tuesday we had a fiesta prepared by Ryan Linehan (Wilderness Trips) and James Overton (Outdoor Classroom). Tamales, enchiladas, chiles rellenos, and tres leches cake.
Thursday was German with Leslie Hunter (Summer Programs Administrative Assistant). Pork Goulash with sauerkraut, braised red cabbage and spaetzle with caramel apple crisp for dessert.
The only down side is that we have to wait a whole year before we do this again!
