Semester 54 end their semester on the Neck with great fanfare. Their Human Ecology Capstone week and final trip to Acadia come on the heels of a busy last week of classes. In the midst of various culminating assignments and AP exams, students found time to take on a few additional challenges. Six students competed in the Maine Wind Blade Challenge, in which they designed and built their own wind turbine and tested it against 40 other teams, being scored on both the blades’ energy generation as well as their group presentation about the engineering behind their design. In their first time ever at the competition, they won first place! Chewonki in Maine Wind Blade Challenge Semester students also won big in athletic competition. Twelve students ran the Maine Coast Half Marathon after training for the past few months for this event, and their efforts paid off. They swept (winning first through third place) in the under 20 female division and won first, third and fourth in the under 20 male division. We are thrilled by their personal initiative to make this event happen and their commitment to training!
