They came, they saw, and it’s been snowing almost ever since! Members of Semester 58 landed at Chewonki in late January and quickly made it their own. Our 42 newest students come from 34 schools and 13 states, plus China and Hong Kong. They’re creating their community here, crisscrossing our peninsula on skis and snowshoes, doing farm chores, working on algebra problems, discussing an Annie Dillard essay, splitting wood and stoking woodstoves, studying the Reconstruction, learning about sheep-shearing, and a hundred other things (even sleeping now and then). We are thoroughly enjoying their presence here on snowy Chewonki Neck.
