Please join us for a weekend of professional development for wellness and renewal at Chewonki on August 18-21 (Centennial Weekend is just before, on August 14-16). Teachings in Mindful Education (TIME in Maine) is a four-day, three-night immersion in mindfulness skills, enhanced self-awareness, and development of collegial support–pathways to a more balanced and sustainable commitment to working in education. Within a restorative natural setting in midcoast Maine, a group of educators will explore the benefits of self-care as a critical factor in maintaining the energy we need to have a positive impact on those we serve. Designed for educators at every level of service from classroom teaching to administration and higher education, TIME cultivates valuable collegial relationships and provides the opportunity to reflect on and begin to shift the nature of work culture in schools to one that values wellness and renewal. Cost to attend $795, some scholarships available. Questions: email@example.com. Participants in last summer’s TIME in Maine program commented: “I am using aspects of ‘mindfulness’ with my students in a new way. We are taking time to practice breathing, guided imagery to help calm the body, mindful movement to increase mind-body awareness; and I am using aspects of the MindUp Curriculum with my fourth-graders. I am also sharing ideas to incorporate mindfulness with colleagues. Personally, I am taking a few moments a day to practice meditation.” “It’s very helpful to know that I have a group of colleagues out there who are building mindfulness into their days and work. Helps me feel connected even if my interactions with the group are rare. On a personal level, I’m more grounded in Loving Kindness practice since TIME than ever before – rewiring for more joy!
