Torngats

Northern Labrador’s Torngat Mountains (Call for details)– We rendezvous in Montreal and depart the following morning for Kuujjuaq, Quebec. From there, a chartered Air Inuit, Twin Otter flies our group east to the headwaters of the Koroc River, located at the foot of the magnificent Torngat Mountains—the height of land that separates Quebec and Labrador. After landing on a gravel bar beside the river, we set up our base camp. We explore this area by foot and may spend a night or two away from the river exploring the wildlife-rich valley at the foot of Mt. Iberville. The Koroc River Valley is home to a nonmigratory herd of Caribou. The landscape is dramatic and, except for small willows and dwarf birch, treeless. This trip provides a rich and memorable experience for any adventurer.

Northern Quebec’s George River Canoe Trip (Call for details)– The George River is a magnificent subarctic river, wide with plenty of whitewater. We travel north by van and train to Schefferville, Quebec, and then fly into Indian House Lake. Here we begin our 180-mile paddle to Ungava Bay. Along the way we take time to examine evidence of early native encampments, and we are always on the lookout for Caribou, wolves, lake trout, and other wildlife. We finish the trip at the remote Inuit village of Kangiqsualluujjuaq, among people who know the territory well through experience and tradition.

Baffin Island Soper River Canoe Trip (Call for details)– For those wanting a true arctic experience, the Soper River trip journeys through a little-traveled and exquisite river valley with waterfalls and plenty of wildlife, including Arctic Wolves, Peregrine Falcons, Gyrfalcons, and most assuredly Caribou. This trip is set at a comfortable pace of travel, with plenty of time for stops and hiking trips along the way. We spend our last night in the Inuit community of Kimmirut, enjoying a traditional meal of Caribou and Arctic Char.
