Heavy rains this spring have sent Maine rivers in the North Woods bounding over their banks. That includes the West Branch of the Penobscot, on which Chewonki’s Big Eddy Cabins and Campground are located. Site Manager Don Lamson and Assistant Manager Sarah Sindo, a photographer, made a visit to Big Eddy in early May and found it looking very different than usual.
They reported no critical damage but an amazing show of water power at the campground and upstream at the Ripogenous Dam. Take a look at the video Sarah took at the dam. This should help relieve last fall’s drought conditions!
