Challenge Course Activity Leader

The Challenge Course Activity Leader is a senior level instructor position. The CCAL assist with the design and implementation of challenge course programming throughout the two sessions of camp. The CCAL position will work closely with Chewonki’s Challenge Course Coordinator to connect the boys camp curriculum and residential life to a larger adventure education model, via team building activities, ground initiatives, and low and high challenge course elements.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for safety and welfare of participants
  • Check activity equipment is safe and appropriate for age and location
  • Provide Direct Supervision of campers as assigned
  • Maintain Mission
  • Maintain Safety
  • Maintain Activity Area
  • Professional communication with parents
  • Become familiar with and abide by Boys Camp Protocols as stated in Chewonki Camp for Boys Staff Handbook
  • Fill out all necessary paperwork, i.e. incident reports and camper reports
  • Instill fun and teaching into camp program

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan evening activities and special events
  • Contribute to Cabin Community
  • Be “on-call” for various activities as needed

PREREQUISITES:

  • ACCT Level 2 Challenge Course Practitioners certification (or be willing to obtain before June 12th)
  • Minimum of Red Cross First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Must Pass Background Criminal Check
